Diamond Certificate
A diamond certificate or grading report is an assessment of a loose, natural diamond’s color, cut, clarity, and carat weight. Basically a certificate/grading report is based on a diamond’s unique characteristics and details which may be hidden from the naked eye.
These reports are issued once a diamond has been evaluated by a gemological laboratory and are used simply as an assurance tool for consumers and retailers to help them identify a diamond’s authenticity. This helps with understanding the factors that influence a diamond’s price and overall worth.

The Gemological Institute of America (GIA)
GIA is the most trusted and reliable laboratory used for diamond and gemstone evaluation and comparison. For over 50 years, diamond jewelers have noted and called upon GIA for their valuable Diamond Grading Report to assess a diamond’s authenticity, quality, and ultimate value.
GIA is known for developing the 4C’s – cut, clarity, color, and carat weight – as well as the GIA International Diamond Grading System™ which was the first universally accepted grading system to objectively assess, evaluate, and compare loose diamonds.
It’s safe to say that GIA set the bar for diamond documentation… and set it high!

The GIA Diamond Grading Report
The GIA Diamond Grading Report includes an assessment of a diamond’s 4C’s, a plotted clarity diagram defining a diamond’s characteristics, and a charted graph displaying a diamond’s proportions.
The GIA Laboratory will only issue a grading report for a diamond that is in a loose, UN-mounted, and natural state. There are also certain color range and carat weight specifications that come into play, as well as various other factors when analyzing and grading a diamond.
